- Explain the process of how you made the piece. I started out with shapes in clay and tried to carve and shape the basic horse head structure from there, initially it was hard because horse anatomy is very different from other animals and in a 3D shape it allowed me a little more advantage on getting the symmetry and proportions right. Then in the kiln it blew up because there was an air bubble in it so I had to glue it all back together and then painted it in a realistic manner.
- What did you think of the idea process? Is there a way you would have rather done it? I wanted to make the bust dynamic in the shape and movement and so I settled with not making the face as dynamic for the sake of realism and trying to get some texture and movement in the neck instead.
- What do you find successful about the installation and what would you have changed looking back on it? I think the successful part is the realism achieved and the structure of the bust. Looking back I might have made it smaller and from a single slab so air bubbles didn't form and I might have made it more dynamic to add some life and character.
