For this character sheet i created an alien species. They're broken up into subgroups, this character being one of the lower classes so they're much more humanoid. I wanted to keep a human figure and shape, but adding twists to make the character very recognizably alien. First i had the hands only have four fingers. Then i tried out making the legs have a different structure from a human leg. Patches along the characters skin change colors depending on their mood, the rest is varying shades of green with pink freckles on their face. The character also has an antennae like attachment at the hairline that is used among their species for telepathy purposes. I'm very happy with how it turned out, just one the side of alien but still with human basis. I definitely want to develop this character more, practice lots of poses and push what i can do with this character. I want to use them in a future illustration and maybe down the line do a comic strip or something similar about them. I definitely want to take what i've learned about pushing my boundaries as far as characters and figures in future character designs to keep growing and learning how far i can push my drawing and how i can manipulate the characters.
it was really fun to draw the skeleton to understand how to proportion the body correctly and the sizing of how different bones are positioned to make up the base of the figure.
my worst gesture drawing was the top photo and my best was the bottom photo. I think that the top one is the worst because it doesn't show movement or space, the limbs look fixed and stagnant and like a cardboard cutout. While the bottom photo has movement and mass showing a figure that could become mobile at any point.
